Chicago wins World Series
Yeah, not the Cubs of course, but hey, after 88 years who cares?
White Sox sweep World Series
A bit of trivia: The Cubs and the White Sox met in the 2nd official World Series in 1906 (the first unofficial one was in 1903, and the first official one in 1905–with the 7 game series as we know it now). The White Sox won that series.
From 1921-1923 the New York Giants and the NY Yankees meet 3 consecutive times in the World Series, with the Giants winning the first 2, and the Yankees winning the 3rd one.
Teams from the same city have met 13 times since them (if you count Oakland and San Fran as one, even though its technically not the same city). Most of those teams were NY teams (Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers, Mets, and NY Giants), and a couple from St. Louis (Cardinals and Browns).
Here’s a great site about World Series history.
