Three’s a crowd
So, I decided I could be ready to start dating again after my couple month break. After all, I am going speed dating next week again with my roomate. So in preparation, I updated some of my online profiles. One of my personal ads is very clear about what I’m looking for and more specifically, what I’m not looking for in a guy. You can imagine my surprise when I recieved this message in response to it:
Hope this little note finds you doing well. We’re a Caucasian couple, (man and a woman), both professionals, and looking to bring a little fun into our relationship while satisfying the desires of another as well. We’re both very oral, who enjoy passionate kisses, soft caresses, and just overall touch. Must be STD/Drug free. If interested, please email a phone number so that we may further discuss the potential of meeting.
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I say, I’m looking for a nice Christian boy…not into guys who want one-night stands, party a lot, etc..I think that is prett clear. I guess next time I should specifiy guys, girls and couples who are into one-night stands, or three-somes for that matter. Geez, you gotta tell people everything sometimes! :-)

Superman
As I was driving home from work tonight I realized a strange thing (well, strange for me). I realized at any given time, I’m responsible for about 40-50+ individuals if you count all the residents at Casa and the motel (which includes the kids as well). It was kinda fitting because this week I’ve really felt like I had to be Superman (or Supergirl), and frankly, I got kinda tired of it this week. I had to deal with client crisis after crisis. I got notified I had to go to an Educational meeting for the teenage girl I mentor through the CASA program (different than Casa de Las Palmas, my program), cause I’m this girl’s educational surrogate. Me. Why? I don’t know. But I am the person responsible for making decisions about her education. On top of that, I have a regular life too. I have my own problems and I have friends who have problems. I try my best to be a supportive caring friend, a good mentor, and a good program manager. It leaves very little time for me sometimes.
But, despite all of that, I had a good day. We had a BBQ tonight at Casa and it went great. I enjoyed hanging out with the clients. I enjoyed watching them talk and watching the kids play together. It’s the way it should be. I actually felt like I had done something good for the residents and wasn’t just a “Band-Aid” (I’ve been saying for a couple weeks that I don’t want to be a Band-Aid). And I got a thank you today from another client I’ve helped a lot during the past couple weeks. It may not seem like much, but it was a pretty big deal. I usually feel like I’m not doing enough for my clients when I can’t solve all of their problems. It’s nice to know that they actually appreciate what I actually can do for them.
So, its been an okay week, despite the drama. I go to sleep everynight singing Three Doors Down, Kryptonite.
“If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman….”

I was watching American Idol tonight and was listening to Carrie Underwood sing her song “Don’t Forget to Remember Me.” Surprisingly, I actually like it. I think it just reminds me of home and my family and stuff.

18 years have come and gone
For momma they flew by
But for me they just drug on and on
We were loading up that Chevy
Both tryin’ not to cry
Momma kept on talking
Putting off good-bye
Then she took my hand and said
‘Baby don’t forgetBefore you hit the highway
You better stop for gas
There’s a 50 in ashtray
In case you run short on cash
Here’s a map and here’s a Bible
If you ever lose your wayJust one more thing before you leave
Don’t forget to remember me’This downtown apartment sure makes me miss home
And those bills there on the counter
Telling me I’m on my own
And just like every Sunday I called momma up last night
And even when it’s not, I tell her everything’s alright
Before we hung up I said
‘Hey momma, don’t forget to tell my baby sister I’ll see her in the fall
And tell mee-mal that I miss her
Yeah, I should give her a call
And make sure you tell Daddy that I’m still his little girl
Yeah, I still feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be
Don’t forget to remember me’Tonight I find myself kneeling by the bed to pray
I haven’t done this in a while
So I don’t know what to say but
‘Lord I feel so small sometimes in this big ol’ place
I know there are more important things, but
Don’t forget to remember me
Don’t forget to remember me’
